LONE STAR RIDERS

Mr. Mix formed the band in the beginning of 1997 after disbanding the previous project The Truckdrivers. This time the group was molded as an absolutely Mix’s own band ‘cause he’s kinda crazy about all this stuff and all… Viktor Fokin (guitar), Alexandr Tikhomolov (drums), Artur Markovich Kestner (bass) were the first to play in the band. They played together for less than a year, yet it was the time when the first tour to Moscow was made. The band played two gigs in the Sports Bar and one in the Country Bar. The latter was exceptionally greeted by the audience which led to the second invitation to Moscow, this time for 8 gigs. They were given in Arbat Blues Club, Hot Rod Bar, BJ Blues, Svalka, Armadillo and other clubs. The depressing impression given by the Moscow audience urged the musicians to suspend their Moscow contacts for a while. “It wasn’t fun at all. We knew we played better than most of what stands for music in Moscow. Yet all these freaks of bosses treated us as if we were second-rate. And what was worse, one of them was a Nigger. Well, I thought, to hell with this Moscow, if they want us they’ll call us. There are lots of poorly playing groups in StP offering themselves around – that’s exactly what Moscovites deserve with their cheap airs,” Mix said. The group changes considerably at that time. Victor Fokin and Alexandr Tikhomolov leave the group to start their own project The Yellow Pillow. “We weren’t surprised when the guys left. Sasha and I started playing country in my project Blind Mix Band, and he kept saying that country wasn’t his kind of music, while there were many other kinds he found more interesting. As to Vitia, he always tended towards a more European sound. Actually, I’m in no way grudging, but, on the contrary, happy with their present achievements. When there’s an occasion we enjoy playing jam-sessions and getting drunk together,” Mix said.
